Talking Brewers to open the show, our Frankfurt-based ex-pat comes in with a brilliant observation: despite the injuries, the offensive woes, the up-and-down pitching, the Crew remains only 6 1/2 games out of first, within striking distance during a season that just entered its 3rd month. Clearly, baseball is growing on Joe.
After that, we turn to the Stanley Cup Finals and what appears to be L.A.’s undeniable destiny. We went to air before Game 4, which the Devils managed to win, but the big question on our program is: if a team wins a championship but gets no coverage on SportsCenter, do the hometown cheers make a sound?
To close it out, Josh reminds us that I’ll Have Another has a chance to become a Triple Crown winner this weekend at the Belmont Stakes. It seems like the umpteenth time a horse has won two out of three since Secretariat swept all three races in 1978, so Joe and I are pretty pessimistic that this is the year it will happen.
